In this article Delaney makes the argument against abolishing private insurance arguing that it would substantially disincentivise investment into healthcare which would reduce to lower quality and lower access. I find his argument convincing, but due to perceptions of bias (and him being a politician) I'm unwilling to cite him or fully trust his argument. I'm curious what economists think the effects of abolishing private healthcare insurance would be.
